OptiMEMS: An Adaptive Lightweight Optimal Microgrid Energy Management System Based on the Novel Virtual Distributed Energy Resources in Real-Life Demonstration

As microgrids have gained increasing attention over the last decade, more and applications emerged, ranging from islanded remote infrastructures to active building blocks of smart grids. To optimally manage various microgrid assets towards maximum profit, while taking into account reliability stability, it is essential properly schedule overall operation. that end, this paper presents an optimal scheduling framework for both day-ahead real-time In terms real-time, evaluates operation and, based on deviations, re-optimises dynamically in order continuously provide best possible solution economic benefit energy management. assess solution, designed has been deployed a real-life establishment consisting residential loads, PV array storage unit. Results demonstrate not only benefits scheduling, but also importance dynamic re-optimisation when deviations occur between forecasted values. Given intermittency generation as well stochastic nature consumption, adaptation leads significantly improved results.
